Who didn’t love Casper the Friendly Ghost? I know I did. Casper was a fun cartoon to watch and he taught us the whole “good over evil” concept before we were even aware that we were learning something. It was just fun to watch him and Wendy the Good Witch take on that mean and nasty Ghostly Trio.
Were you even aware of the whole Casper controversy about whether or not Casper was depicting a dead child, and if this possibility was too frightening for children to handle? I don’t think I even gave things like that a thought back then. I just enjoyed the show. Then again, I do enjoy a good scary movie and find vampires intriguing so maybe I owe my love of the horror genre to Casper.
Over the years Casper also made many appearances in comic books and on film but in my opinion, it was the cartoons that made Casper the famous friendly little guy that we all know and love.
Casper has returned to us as a fun Pop Culture icon. You can catch full episodes of Casper on Hulu and make your friends jealous by wearing a cool Casper t-shirt.
